The American Capacity Development Center(ACDC)

ACDC is a not-for-profit organization that supports African countries that are seeking to improve their PFM systems to achieve good governance by mobilizing African Diaspora public financial management professional volunteers.

The African Diaspora

The African Diaspora in North America, representing more than 39 million people, is already a major player in the continent’s development. Its official remittances are estimated to exceed $40B annually (2015), with informal remittances reaching $120B – $160B, far exceeding both Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Direct Investments (FDI). It is also a source of “social remittances” in the form of skills, ideas, and values. Indeed, according to census data, the large African Diaspora in the United States represents the country’s most educated immigrant population and is disproportionately employed at senior levels of the federal, state, and local governments. These highly educated and experienced executives are at the core of ACDC’S technical support programs.
